Crimson Desert Boss Skill Observation Speedrun: 30-Minute Route to Unlock All Observable Skills

The route I can actually source: eight confirmed observation teachers, what each one costs if you skip it, and a full retraction of the fake test data this page used to publish.

What This Page Used to Claim

This page was built on a benchmark nobody ran. The specific claims I removed, and what the sources actually support:

Old claimStatus
”5 observations is the confirmed unlock threshold; 3-4 gives 67%, 5+ gives 100%“Invented. No unlock count is published anywhere I can check.
Steward, Bandit Captain, Wolf Alpha, Gunner Elite, Assassin Boss, Duelist Master, Lance Commander, Shadow Walker, Stone Golem, Boar King, Hill Giant, Armored Knight, Barbarian ChiefNot in the skill database. These were the route’s entire backbone.
Quick Reload and Mountain Breaker as obtainable skillsNo entries by those names.
”Nature’s Echo: 40% healing amplification”, “Aerial Roll: 0.3s i-frames”, “Quick Reload: 23% DPS”, “Mountain Breaker: 2.5s stun”Fabricated effect numbers. The database gives text descriptions, not coefficients.
Coordinates like “Haunted Hills, Ancient Ruins” and “Port Karma dockside”Invented place names.

The rewrite below keeps only teachers I can point to in the Game8 skill database, which turns out to be eight named sources plus a set of chapter quest gates. That is a shorter list than the old page implied, and it is a real one.

The Three Real Unlock Forms

Reading the database conditions correctly saves more time than any route:

  1. Observe only. No Artifact path exists. Pump Kick on Kliff reads “Observe Matthias boss fight” and nothing else. If you miss it, the skill is not for sale.
  2. Artifact or observe. The observation is a one-Artifact discount. Evasive Roll (Kailok), Aerial Roll (the Ch5 Crowcaller), Double Jump, Charged Shot (a lioncrest archer), Multishot (the Fort Commander), Dropkick, Vault, Tornado Kick and Spinning Scissors Throw all accept either.
  3. Raise a prerequisite or observe. Observation skips a leveling requirement instead of a purchase — Swift Stab is “Raise Stab Lv.2 or Observe Reed Devil”, Explosive Evasive Shot is “Raise Evasive Shot Lv.3 or Observe” the Fort Commander, Skewer and Sword Flurry Proficiency sit on Damiane’s base lines.

The route below is ordered so each stop hits the largest number of pending nodes for the character you are likely playing at that point.

The Route, Ordered by Chapter

Crimson-Desert-ScreenShot

Stop 1 — Chapter 1 to 2, quest gates. Force Palm, Axiom Force, Focus and Nature’s Grasp arrive from story progression; two of them also list an NPC observation alongside the quest. Nothing to farm, nothing to buy. If a node looks locked here it is story-gated, not missable.

Stop 2 — Pororin Forest, Double Jump. Kliff is the only character who pays for this one. Watch the jumping Shai children and the node opens without an Artifact. Damiane and Oongka have it by default.

Stop 3 — Hernand Castle, Chapter 3. Soldiers here cover Forward Slash, the Spinning Slash and Forward Slash proficiency branches, and Counter. This is the denseest cluster of free Kliff nodes early, and it is on the main route, so it costs a slow fight rather than a detour.

Stop 4 — Chapter 4 roadblock, the shadowy figure. Focused Force Palm. Observe-only in the database as written, and the reason not to sprint past a roadblock encounter.

Stop 5 — Chapter 5, the Crowcaller. Aerial Roll — one Artifact or the observation. A Flight-time dash that spends Stamina on the spot, which is the strongest argument for putting your saved Artifacts into Stamina tiers instead.

Stop 6 — Chapter 6, Black Bears. Clothesline, a sprinting hook-and-slam. Kliff must observe it; Oongka starts with it.

Stop 7 — Chapter 6, Matthias. Pump Kick. Observe-only, no purchase path, two-footed kick that launches the enemy. Highest-priority stop on the route for exactly that reason.

Whenever you cross them — Fort Commander (Hernand) for Multishot and Explosive Evasive Shot, a Reed Devil for Swift Stab, Kailok for Evasive Roll, a lioncrest archer for Charged Shot, a trainee for Tornado Kick on Damiane. These are wandering or encounter enemies rather than set pieces, so fold them into travel instead of routing for them.

Setup That Actually Matters

Three things, and none of them is a loadout:

  • Check the tree before the engagement, not after. The node is what tells you whether this enemy is worth a slow fight or a fast kill.
  • Play for survival on stops 3 through 7. The condition is seeing the move performed, so defensive play and letting the attack cycle complete is the whole technique. There is no documented parry or counter requirement.
  • Do not bring a completionist mindset to the unnamed observations. Roughly fifteen nodes read “or Observe skill” with no teacher named — Nature’s Echo, Meteor Kick, Blinding Flash Finisher, Lariat Follow-up, Tiger’s Fury Expertise, Iron Fists Proficiency, Rampage Proficiency among them. [Unverified — no documented source enemy. Take the Artifact or prerequisite path and move on.]

One correction to the old page’s equipment advice: it told players to equip the weakest weapon and grind on the lowest difficulty. Bring the survival tools you already have. [Unverified — I could not confirm a difficulty setting that changes observation behaviour, and deliberately underperforming in a boss fight is a worse trade than one Artifact.]

Priority: What Is Worth Detouring For

Ranked by what happens if you skip the stop, which is the only ranking that survives contact with the data:

PriorityStopCost of skipping
1Matthias — Pump KickUnobtainable. There is no Artifact path.
2Chapter 4 roadblock — Focused Force PalmWritten as observe-only in the entry I read.
3Pororin Forest — Double JumpOne Abyss Artifact diverted from Stamina.
4Crowcaller — Aerial RollOne Artifact, plus a Flight dash you wanted mid-campaign.
5Hernand Castle clusterFour to five free Kliff nodes become Artifact or leveling purchases.
6Black Bears — ClotheslineGrappling trees without it are fine; skip if you play Oongka.

Common Time Wasters

  1. Farming for XP. There is no level system; the reward for a fight is the observation and the loot.
  2. Counting seconds toward an unlock threshold that does not exist.
  3. Hunting unnamed observation nodes across regions nobody has mapped.
  4. Running the route on Oongka. He starts with Grappling, Lariat, Low Dropkick, Dropkick, Vault, Double Jump, Scatter Shot, Rage and Quick Grab. Almost all of this list is a Kliff problem.
  5. Buying an observable node, then resetting to recover the Artifact. The reset refunds Artifacts spent on purchases — it does not re-offer the observation as a purchase you can undo, and observation nodes cannot be reset at all.

Final Take

The honest version of a “speedrun” here is: play Chapters 1 through 6 without rushing five specific encounters, and you will collect the entire confirmed observation set as a side effect.

  • Eight named teachers: Matthias, the Ch4 shadowy figure, the Ch5 Crowcaller, Ch6 Black Bears, Hernand Castle soldiers, Fort Commander, Reed Devil, Kailok — plus the Pororin Forest Shai children, a lioncrest archer and a trainee.
  • Two of them gate skills with no purchase path: Pump Kick and, as written, Focused Force Palm.
  • Everything else is an Artifact discount, and the Artifacts you keep belong in Stamina, Health and Spirit tiers.
  • No observation count, DPS figure or coordinate list on this page is a measurement, because none of them exist to measure. The old numbers were mine and they were not real.

The full node-by-node list with effects and character splits lives in the skill observation reference, and the early Artifact budget guide covers where the Artifacts you save should go.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the observation route take in Crimson Desert?

Shorter than a normal playthrough of the same chapters, because almost every confirmed teacher sits on the main route: Hernand Castle in Chapter 3, the Chapter 4 roadblock figure, the Crowcaller in Chapter 5, the Black Bears and the Matthias fight in Chapter 6. Treat any minute-by-minute timer as an estimate, not a benchmark.

What should I do before each fight to farm observations?

Open the skill tree first and note which of that enemy's moves you are still missing. The unlock condition in the database is written as 'Observe' plus the teacher, so the only requirement is seeing the move performed — play defensively and let the animation cycle instead of rushing the kill.

How many times do I have to watch a skill to unlock it?

No source publishes a count. An earlier version of this page claimed three to five observations and a 100 percent unlock rate at five. That number was invented and has been removed. Watch the move, then check the node.

Which observation is the highest priority for Kliff?

Pump Kick. Its database entry is observe-only — the Matthias boss fight, with no Abyss Artifact alternative. Second is Double Jump, because skipping the Pororin Forest observation costs one Artifact you can spend on Stamina instead.

Do observed skills survive a respec?

Yes. Resetting skills costs one Faded Abyss Artifact and refunds the Artifacts spent on purchased skills, but the game does not let you reset observation-learned skills — they stay unlocked permanently.
