Mistfall Hunter Einherjar Mode: Holy Weapon Farming Guide
Dried Flower Knot drops start next week. Einherjar Mode is the new Mist Lord challenge with boosted Holy Weapon rates. Here's what we know, what to expect, and how to prepare your build now.
Mistfall Hunter Einherjar Mode: Holy Weapon & Dried Flower Knot Guide
Updated Aug 5, 2026 — This is a preview. Einherjar Mode is not yet live. Everything here is based on the Steam Second Wave announcement, the GamerFuzion breakdown, and community data from the beta. I will update this the moment the weekly client ships.
What Actually Changes in Einherjar Mode
Bellring Games confirmed on August 1 that Einherjar Mode is a new Mist Lord challenge variant. It is not a separate map, queue, or difficulty slider. You take the same Mist Lord encounter you already know and activate a harder version using a consumable item at the boss altar.
The official X post reads: “Defeating it will grant a higher chance of dropping Holy Weapons or Holy Forging Materials.” That is the entire mechanical promise. Higher chance on a specific loot table. No new bosses, no new zones, no new currency.
I have been playing extraction games since the Dark and Darker playtests, and this structure mirrors the “hard mode token” system that Tarkov uses for Labs keycards and Dark and Darker uses for Inferno portals. The token gates the difficulty, the difficulty gates the loot table. What makes Mistfall Hunter different is that the token (Dried Flower Knot) is a drop, not a purchase. That changes how you prep.
Dried Flower Knot — The Only Thing That Matters Right Now
The Dried Flower Knot is the key. Here is what we know for certain.
Confirmed:
- Dried Flower Knots start dropping after the next weekly client update (Second Wave Steam post, August 1).
- You use them at the Mist Lord altar to activate Einherjar Mode.
- The Knot is consumed on use regardless of outcome .
- Einherjar Mode increases the drop rate of Holy Weapons and Holy Forging Materials.
Unconfirmed [Unverified]:
- Where Knots actually drop. The announcement says “start dropping” but does not specify from which enemies, which maps, or what difficulty. My read: they will likely drop from Mist Lords themselves on Cataclysm difficulty, or from high-tier chests in Brandrgarde.
- Whether Knots are tradeable on the Auction House. If they are bind-on-pickup, you cannot buy your way in. If they are tradeable, the price will be brutal for the first two weeks.
- The exact drop rate. I would not expect anything above 15-20% from a Mist Lord kill on Cataclysm. If it is higher, Knots will be common and the economy shifts. If it is lower, expect a 10-farm cycle per attempt.
The critical detail nobody is talking about: The Knot is consumed on failure. That means you can lose your entry token to a wipe, a third-party squad, or a disconnect. This is not a “try until you win” system. You need to be confident in your clear before you spend the consumable. I learned this lesson the hard way in Dark and Darker High Roller where I burned through 12 keycards before I got my first kill. Do not make that mistake here.
Holy Weapons — Why You Actually Run Einherjar Mode
Holy Weapons are the endgame chase in Mistfall Hunter. They are not just high-stat gear. The developers describe them as carrying “exclusive gameplay effects that massively expand build variety.” In practice, that means a Holy Weapon changes what your abilities do, not just how hard they hit.
The Only Confirmed Example
We have exactly one Holy Weapon that has been shown in action. It is a hammer that drops from the boss called Otto, the Flesheater. Here is what it does:
- Fully charging your charge attack triggers an AoE explosion around you.
- The explosion applies a slow to everything caught in it.
- It also reduces the enemy’s dodge chance.
That is not a stat increase. That is a mechanical change. Your charge attack goes from a single-target damage button to an AoE control tool with debuff utility. This is the design philosophy behind every Holy Weapon: they rewrite how your kit works.
What This Means for Your Build
Each map boss drops its own unique Holy Weapon. They are not in a shared loot pool. So if you want a specific weapon, you need to farm a specific boss. This changes your endgame loop from “kill whatever is available” to “route toward the boss that drops your weapon.”
[Unverified] The full list of Holy Weapons has not been published. The Steam announcement references “Corrupted Moon Catalyst, Corrupted Moon Daggers, Glutton Bow, and Herald Sword and Shield” as concepts, but those may be Season 1 items rather than Einherjar drops. I would not plan around unreleased weapons yet.
Here is the thing nobody warns you about: Holy Weapons break like normal gear. When you take a Holy Weapon into a raid and it hits zero durability, every gem effect in those sockets switches off. The gems themselves never break, but the item they are sitting in stops working. If you die and lose a Holy Weapon because you pushed one fight too far without repairing, you are out weeks of farming. I have seen this happen to three different streamers in the launch week. Do not let it happen to you.
Information Gain — What Most Guides Are Missing
1. The Knot Economy Will Be a Bottleneck, and You Should Stockpile Now
Every guide tells you that Knots drop after the update. None of them tell you what happens when 500,000 players all try to farm the same item on the same two maps. The Knot is consumed on every attempt, win or lose. If the drop rate is even moderately low (say 10%), you are looking at 10 Mist Lord kills to earn one attempt. Then you have to win that attempt to get your Holy Weapon roll.
This means the first week of Einherjar Mode will be a lottery. Players who stockpile resources now will have a massive advantage. Here is what you should do:
- Save your best gear set. Do not throw it at Normal Mist Lord runs. You need it for your first Knot attempt.
- Stockpile Gyldenblood. Minimum target: 50,000. You will need it for repairs, Victory Wine, and potentially buying Knots if they are tradeable.
- Upgrade your Warehouse to at least Level 3 (requires 1x Soul Jar, 1x Ornamental Orb, 1x Slumbering Dragon Statue, 2x Silver Bowl). You need space for Knot stacks and Holy Weapon drops.
2. The Best Build for Einherjar Mode May Not Be Your Best Build for Normal Mode
Holy Weapons change your abilities. If you optimize your build around a specific skill rotation, getting a Holy Weapon that changes that rotation could break your build. This is a real risk.
My advice: build for versatility, not peak DPS. Prioritize gear with good affix gem sockets and high base stats rather than niche synergy. That way, when you get a Holy Weapon that changes how your abilities work, you can adapt without regearing from scratch.
The one exception is Sorcerer. Sorcerer DPS is so high that even if a Holy Weapon changes your rotation, you still have the raw damage to clear content. Withered Knight with the polearm and shield is also safe because the survivability is baked into the stance, not the weapon.
How to Prepare Right Now
Step 1: Get Your Extraction Rate Above 70%
I am not joking. If you cannot extract reliably from Normal Mist Lord runs, Einherjar Mode will punish you. The Knot is consumed on failure. Every failed attempt is a setback of several hours of farming.
Track your last 20 runs. If you are below 70%, do not attempt Einherjar until you fix your gameplay. Watch your positioning. Learn the Mist Lord attack patterns. Bring a Soul of Return before you engage. These fundamentals matter more than any gear upgrade.
I spent my first 15 hours in Mistfall Hunter dying to Otto because I kept overextending for the last hit. The boss has a second phase with golden fire eruptions that limit your safe space, and if you do not respect the enrage timer, you wipe. Learn that fight until you can do it in your sleep.
Step 2: Upgrade Your Camp
The Forge and Workshop are the two most important buildings for Einherjar prep. Here is why:
- Forge (Level 3+): Reduces repair costs. Holy Weapons take durability damage like any other gear. If you are running Einherjar attempts back to back, you will repair frequently. Lower repair costs save thousands of Gyldenblood.
- Workshop (Level 3+): Unlocks crafting recipes for higher-tier consumables. Victory Wine with the right affixes can make the difference between a clear and a wipe.
- Goddess Statue (Level 3): +20% Spirithorn Healing. That extra 10% over Level 2 matters in long fights.
- Gyldenblood Pool (Level 2): +50% Gyldjar capacity. More Gyldenblood storage means fewer forced extraction runs to bank your currency.
Step 3: Build a Gear Set with Good Affix Sockets
Gem effects shut off when the item hits zero durability. This is the most important gear mechanic to understand. You want items with multiple affix sockets so you can slot different gems for different encounters.
For Einherjar Mode, prioritize:
- Damage reduction gems on armor pieces. The Mist Lord hits harder in Einherjar.
- Cooldown reduction gems on weapons. Faster rotations mean more DPS windows.
- Extraction speed gems on accessories. You want to loot and leave fast.
Step 4: Learn the Mist Lord You Plan to Farm
Each boss drops a specific Holy Weapon. Pick your target now and learn that boss’s moveset on Normal mode. If you are farming Otto for the hammer, run Otto 20 times on Normal before you spend a single Knot.
The Mist Lord in Brandrgarde spawns in either the Main Hall or the Sealed Zone. The doors seal when the fight starts, so you cannot run. You are committed. Make sure you are ready.
Class Recommendations for Einherjar Mode
These are based on launch-week performance and beta data. Einherjar may shift the meta.
Sorcerer (S-Tier for Einherjar): Highest DPS in the game. Staff elemental stance lets you control range and apply pressure. The weakness is low survivability, but if you position well, you burn the Mist Lord before it burns you.
Withered Knight (A-Tier): Polearm and shield stance gives you block and survivability. The greatsword stance offers higher damage but less defense. For Einherjar, I recommend polearm. You need to survive the amplified mechanics.
Seer (A-Tier for groups, B-Tier for solo): The Death Ward ability is almost mandatory for coordinated groups. It prevents one fatal hit per activation. For solo play, the Blasphemer subclass offers better damage, but you lose the utility. If you are running with a squad, one Seer is worth the slot.
Mercenary (B-Tier): Solid frontliner. Sword and shield for defense, great hammer for damage. The mercenary is the easiest class to play well, but it does not offer anything special for Einherjar Mode. Reliable but not optimal.
Blackarrow (B-Tier for solo, C-Tier for groups): Ranged safety is valuable in solo play. You can kite the Mist Lord and avoid mechanics. In groups, the damage output is lower than Sorcerer, and you do not bring utility. I would only run Blackarrow in Einherjar if you are soloing.
Shadowstrix (C-Tier for Einherjar): The stealth assassin is strong in PvP but weak in prolonged PvE fights. The Mist Lord has too much health for burst damage to be effective. Skip this class for Einherjar unless you are specifically hunting other players rather than the boss.
What to Do After the Update Drops
The moment the weekly client update ships, the race starts. Here is my plan:
- Check the patch notes. Does the Knot drop from Mist Lords, chests, or normal mobs? This changes everything.
- Farm one Knot. Just one. Do not try to stockpile yet. You need to verify the flow.
- Run one Einherjar attempt. Use your best gear, your best Victory Wine, and your best squad. See if the mode is actually harder or just a stat increase.
- Report back. If the mode is manageable, farm Knots hard. If it is a stat check, go back to Normal and gear up.
I will update this guide within 24 hours of the patch dropping with confirmed drop rates, clear strategies, and Holy Weapon screenshots.
Needs Verification
The following information is not yet confirmed by official sources. Treat these as informed speculation.
- Dried Flower Knot drop location. The official announcement says “start dropping” but does not specify source. Community speculation points to Mist Lords on Cataclysm difficulty, but this is unconfirmed. [Unverified]
- Auction House trading. If Knots are tradeable, the economy will be very different from a bind-on-pickup system. No official word on this yet. [Unverified]
- Holy Weapon list. The four weapons shown in concept art (Corrupted Moon Catalyst, Corrupted Moon Daggers, Glutton Bow, Herald Sword and Shield) may be Season 1 items rather than Einherjar drops. The only confirmed Holy Weapon is the Flesheater hammer. [Unverified]
- Solo mode balance. The beta tested solo mode with redesigned monster placement, but the launch version may differ. Einherjar Mode in solo may play differently than in trios. [Unverified]
- Knot consumption on disconnect. If you disconnect during an Einherjar fight, does the Knot get consumed? The consume-on-use rule suggests yes, but this has not been tested. [Unverified]
What I Expect to See in the First Week
The launch week taught me that Bellring Games communicates well but patches slowly. The July 30 stability patch fixed Withered Knight buffs, Soul Tree bugs, and console reconnect issues, but it did not touch the Einherjar enablement. The August 5 status is still pending.
I expect the weekly client update to drop between August 7 and August 12. The Steam Second Wave post promised “next week’s update,” which means this week or early next. If it does not ship by August 12, the community will get restless, and rightly so.
When it does ship, expect:
- Knots to be rare (10-15% drop rate from Mist Lords or high-tier content).
- Einherjar Mode to be noticeably harder, possibly with a timer or enrage mechanic.
- Holy Weapons to be the primary driver of the economy for the next month.
- A wave of complaints about Knot consumption on failure.
The Bottom Line: Treat Einherjar Like a Raid, Not a Farm
This is the most important thing I can tell you. Einherjar Mode is not a farming loop. It is a raid boss that you gear up for, prepare for, and execute. You do not walk into Einherjar with a half-budget build and hope for the best. You go in with your best gear, your best squad, your best Victory Wine, and your best plan.
The players who treat it that way will be the ones posting Holy Weapon screenshots in the first week. The players who treat it like a normal farm run will be the ones posting “I lost my Knot to a disconnect” threads.
I have been on both sides of that line. Pick the right side.
This guide is a living document. I will update it when the weekly client ships. If you have confirmed information from the patch, tag me on X and I will verify and update.
