What Happens When You Die?

Respawning at your last safe location

Your character is reprinted at your last safe location (Lifepod or nearby base). Place additional bases or use beacons for more control over respawn points.

Blackbox Beacon

Beacon marks your death site for item recovery

A Blackbox Beacon automatically appears at your death site. Track it on your HUD to recover lost items.

Oxygen Depletion

Running out of oxygen while exploring

Most deaths — running out of oxygen in caves or deep areas without enough resources.

Hostile Creatures

Aggressive wildlife can deal heavy damage quickly

Environmental Damage

Extreme heat, electrical areas, toxic zones

Death Penalties

• Loss of carried items — resources, tools, materials
• Loss of recent exploration progress — must retrace steps
• Time and resource loss — crafting replacements, refilling supplies

Overall story and blueprint progress is saved.
