One full day lasts around 20 minutes in real time: 15 minutes of daytime, 5 minutes of nighttime.

How to Skip Time

Currently no built-in skip feature

Subnautica 2 has no built-in feature to skip or change time in the current Early Access version. Unlike the original Subnautica, beds do not skip to morning.

Use Beds to Freeze Stat Depletion

Lie down to pause oxygen, food, and water consumption

Lying down applies a Stasis effect that completely pauses stat depletion. Useful for safely waiting out the 5-minute nighttime cycle.

The Bottom Line: This is the kind of mechanic that seems obvious after you know it, but the game sure as hell won’t tell you upfront. I learned most of this the hard way — by drowning, starving, or getting eaten. The systems in Subnautica 2 are deep but fair. Once you understand how they work, survival stops being a struggle and starts being a strategy. And that’s when the real fun begins.
