SpiritVale class selection screen showing all 7 base classes with character previews

SpiritVale launches with 7 base classes and 8 advanced specializations (Summoner gets two: Necromancer and Weaver). I’ve played every advanced job to at least level 50 (some to 60) and tested them in solo PVE, party bossing, and the PVP arena. Here’s the complete breakdown with scores so you can pick the class that actually fits your playstyle.

1. Paladin (Knight → Paladin)

PVE Solo: S | PVE Party: S | PVP Arena: A | Overall: S

Paladin is the best all-around class in the current patch. You get heavy armor, a self-heal that scales with your max HP, and AoE taunt that groups mobs for efficient grinding. In parties, your defensive buffs reduce party damage by 25% and your threat generation keeps bosses focused on you.

Key skills:

  • Divine Shield (max) — 50% damage reduction for 8 seconds, 30s cooldown
  • Holy Strike (max) — AoE damage that heals you for 20% of damage dealt
  • Taunt (1 point) — forces boss aggro for 6 seconds

Best for: New players, solo farmers, party leaders. Paladin is the class I recommend to anyone who asks “what should I play first.”

Substat priority: DEF > Max HP > Holy Damage > Threat Generation

2. Wizard (Mage → Wizard)

PVE Solo: A | PVE Party: S | PVP Arena: A | Overall: S

Wizard is the highest raw DPS class in the game. Your elemental spells hit in large AoE cones and the Elementalist passive lets you switch elements to exploit enemy weaknesses. In parties, you’re the primary damage dealer — Paladin holds aggro, Wizard kills everything.

Key skills:

  • Fireball (max) — your main AoE nuke, 3-second cast
  • Ice Storm (max) — DoT + slow, great for kiting
  • Elemental Shift (1 point) — swap element type, 10-second cooldown

The catch: Wizard is squishy. You have the lowest base DEF of any class. If a boss looks at you, you have 2 seconds to dodge or you’re dead. I’ve wiped more dungeon runs as a Wizard than I care to admit.

Substat priority: INT > Magic Penetration > Cast Speed > Elemental Damage

3. Gunslinger (Scout → Gunslinger)

PVE Solo: A | PVE Party: A | PVP Arena: S | Overall: S

Gunslinger is the PVP king. The ranged damage, mobility, and crit stacking make you a nightmare in the arena. In PVE, you clear mobs efficiently from range and never need to facetank. The downside is you’re gear-dependent — without good crit substats, your damage falls off hard.

Key skills:

  • Dual Shot (max) — double hit, 40% crit chance with max rank
  • Rolling Reload (max) — dodge roll that reloads your weapon, no ammo management
  • Sniper Stance (1 point) — +50% range, +30% crit damage, -50% movement speed

PVP combo: Open with Sniper Stance, hit Dual Shot from max range, Rolling Reload to close distance, finish with Fan Fire (AoE cone). Most players die before they reach you.

Substat priority: DEX > Crit Rate > Crit Damage > Ranged Attack

4. Berserker (Warrior → Berserker)

PVE Solo: S | PVE Party: A | PVP Arena: A | Overall: A

Berserker is the melee damage monster. Your health pool is your resource — spend HP to deal more damage, regain HP through kills. The class rewards aggressive play: the more mobs you pull, the faster you kill them.

Key skills:

  • Blood Rage (max) — +40% damage, -20% defense, 30-second duration
  • Whirlwind (max) — AoE spin, hits everything around you
  • Execute (max) — deals 300% damage to enemies below 30% HP

The catch: Berserker is the most gear-dependent class in the game. Without good DEF and HP substats, Blood Rage kills you faster than your enemies. You need to balance offensive and defensive gear.

Substat priority: STR > HP > Lifesteal > DEF

5. Necromancer (Summoner → Necromancer)

PVE Solo: S | PVE Party: A | PVP Arena: B | Overall: A

I covered Necromancer’s three builds (Summoner, Lifesteal, Poison) in detail in my dedicated guide, but the short version is: Necromancer is the best solo PVE class with the highest build variety. The trade-off is that none of the builds are the best at any single thing — they’re good at everything, great at nothing.

Best for: Players who want to play multiple playstyles on one character. You can respec your Necromancer between Summoner, Lifesteal, and Poison for less than 10,000 gold total.

6. Shinobi (Rogue → Shinobi)

PVE Solo: B | PVE Party: B | PVP Arena: S | Overall: A

Shinobi is the highest skill-ceiling class in SpiritVale. Your entire kit revolves around evasion and burst damage windows. In PVP, you can kill a Wizard in 3 seconds if you land your opener. In PVE, you struggle with mob grinding because your damage is single-target and your survivability depends on perfect dodge timing.

Key skills:

  • Shadow Strike (max) — teleport behind target, +50% damage from behind
  • Smoke Bomb (max) — AoE blind, 70% miss chance for 4 seconds
  • Assassinate (max) — 500% damage to targets below 50% HP, 15-second cooldown

Who should play Shinobi: Experienced MMO players who want a challenge. Do not start with this class.

7. Priest (Acolyte → Priest)

PVE Solo: C | PVE Party: S | PVP Arena: A | Overall: A

Priest is the only dedicated healer in SpiritVale. If you want to be in demand for every party and guild, this is your class. The downside is solo grinding is painfully slow — your damage skills are weak and your healing skills don’t affect mobs.

Key skills:

  • Heal (max) — single-target heal, scales with INT
  • Prayer of Protection (max) — party-wide damage reduction buff
  • Holy Light (max) — your only damage skill, decent but not great

Solo grinding tip: Use Holy Light to pull 1-2 mobs at a time, heal through the damage, and accept that you’ll level slower than anyone else. Party up whenever possible.

8. Weaver (Summoner → Weaver)

PVE Solo: C | PVE Party: A | PVP Arena: C | Overall: B

Weaver is the crafting support class. You don’t fight — you make cards, enhance equipment, and provide utility buffs to your party. In a guild setting, Weaver is invaluable. As a solo player, it’s borderline unplayable.

Who should play Weaver: Players who want to be the economy king. Every guild needs a Weaver. You’ll never struggle for gold if you’re the only Weaver crafter on your server.

SpiritVale Class Guide: Which One to Pick First

If you’re new: Paladin. It’s forgiving, it’s strong, and it teaches you the game’s mechanics without punishing mistakes.

If you want to be the damage dealer: Wizard or Gunslinger. Both are S-tier in their respective content.

If you want to be the healer: Priest. You’ll never wait for a party.

If you want to be the economy lord: Weaver. Grind Summoner to 50, advance to Weaver, and start crafting cards for profit.

If you want to be the PVP star: Gunslinger (easy) or Shinobi (hard).

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the 7 base classes in SpiritVale?

The 7 base classes are Knight, Mage, Scout, Warrior, Summoner, Cleric, and Rogue. Each reaches Job Level 50 to unlock an advanced specialization. Summoner is unique — it has two advanced jobs: Necromancer and Weaver. The full advanced job list: Paladin (Knight), Wizard (Mage), Gunslinger (Scout), Berserker (Warrior), Necromancer (Summoner), Weaver (Summoner), Templar (Cleric), and Assassin (Rogue).

Which class is best for solo PVE in SpiritVale?

Paladin (Knight → advanced) and Necromancer (Summoner → advanced) are both S-tier for solo PVE. Paladin has high defense, self-healing, and cheap gear. Necromancer's minion swarm does the work for you. Berserker (Warrior → advanced) is also S-tier but requires more attention to health management. Wizard is A-tier — great damage but squishy.

What is the best PVP class in SpiritVale?

Gunslinger (Scout → advanced) is the only S-tier PVP class. It has the highest mobility, ranged attacks, and a stun skill that locks opponents for 2 seconds. Assassin (Rogue → advanced) is A-tier with burst damage but requires precise positioning. Paladin is A-tier as a tanky support. Necromancer is B-tier — minions are too slow for arena combat.

How do I unlock advanced jobs in SpiritVale?

Reach Job Level 50 on your base class. Job XP levels simultaneously with character XP from killing mobs. At Job Level 50, visit the Advanced Job Master in your faction's capital city. There is a small quest to collect 3 materials from specific mobs in your level range. The unlock costs 10,000 gold and takes about 30 minutes to complete.

Which advanced job is the easiest to play for beginners?

Paladin (Knight → advanced) is the easiest. High defense means you make fewer mistakes. The skill rotation is simple: keep Shield Bash on cooldown, use Holy Strike when available, and pop Divine Protection for emergency healing. Berserker (Warrior → advanced) is also easy — just spam Whirlwind and manage your rage bar.
